8 Months - May 2005

May 24 - May 30, 2005
(38 Weeks)

Mommy reads to me every morning after I nurse.  I sit on her lap and help her turn the pages.  I started pointing at the pictures on the pages while she reads.  One of my books (Moo, Baa, La La La) has dogs and horses in it and when Mommy says "Where is the doggy?" or "Where is the horse?"  I usually put my finger right on the correct animal.

I learned a new game and it is really fun.  Mommy rolls a ball to me and then I throw/roll it back to her.  We do this over and over and over.  I get really excited when I throw/roll the ball back to her and I often clap afterwards.

New Foods for this week:  Broccoli with Cauliflower.

May 17 - May 23, 2005
(37 Weeks)

Today Mommy retired my Kick and Play bouncer.  Watching her dismantle it was sort of bittersweet.  I will miss playing with it but I realize that it's time to move onto other big girl toys.  You see, yesterday Mommy placed me in the Kick and Play so that she could run upstairs and grab something when she returned I was lying on my tummy (on the floor) facing the opposite direction and smiling.  She called me her little Houdini.

My top front teeth are really taking their time coming in.  I expect them to pop through any day now - at least I hope they do.  I rub my gums and chew on everything.

New Foods for this week:  Garden Carrots with Brown Rice.

May 10 - May 16, 2005
(36 Weeks)

I have mastered the pincher grasp!  This morning I shredded a Kleenex into tiny pieces with my thumb and index finger.  I also learned that Kleenex does not taste very good.  Maybe the folks over at Kimberly-Clark can do something about that.

On Friday of last week I started saying or rather loudly barking something that kind of sounds like "hi" to people, Wilson, and other babies when they are first encountered.  Mommy's not sure if we're ready to count this as my first word or not.

One of my favorite noises to make lately is something I like to call the Rolling Rrrrrrs.

New Foods for this week:  Apple with Mango and Kiwi.

May 3 - May 9, 2005
(35 Weeks)

I turned 8 months old on Saturday.  I have been spending increased time on my tummy during the day and I recently learned how to push myself up into a sort of crawling position.  While I am not crawling yet, I am rolling around a lot more.  And for the past three nights I have been doing so in my sleep.  Mommy and Daddy put me to sleep on my back but after a few hours I flip over.  I seem to like sleeping on my tummy.

My fingers are getting a lot more dexterous.  I have learned how to use the switches and levers on my toys more proficiently.  I especially like to make the star spin on my Fisher Price aquarium.  Mommy took a picture of me playing with star.  She thinks I look like I am gambling on a slot machine

Some of my favorite song games are Pat-a-Cake and Open Shut Them.  Both involve clapping of which I am particularly fond.  I have also realized that Peek-a-Boo is quite enjoyable!

New Foods for this week:  Spring Garden Vegetables, Apples with Strawberries, and Pears with Raspberries.
