23 Months - August 2006
August 29 - September 4, 2006
(2 years)
On Sunday we celebrated my 2nd birthday
with the first of what will probably be three parties. I got dressed
up and even wore my Canada necklace (which I love). We had the party
at my house and 10 of my closest friends came to celebrate with me. We
played in the sandbox, the ball pits, and in the tents - it was so much fun.
We also got to eat pasta, chicken nuggets, grapes and watermelon - mmmmm.
I received a lot of really nice gifts and everyone enjoyed "The Cake"
although I didn't have any. I had a wonderful time at my party!
Later that night Daddy, Mommy, baby Ian
and I went to see Peter, Paul, and Mary with some friends. I got to
sing and dance with Daddy and Blue Puppy. I especially liked Puff the
Magic Dragon and the chocolate chip cookies.
When I woke up this morning Mommy asked me
what I'd like to do today. Much to her surprise and utter amazement
and Daddy's chagrin, I told her "Go Shopping." I then explained
further by saying "Go Shopping, Grapes." Needless to say we went
shopping and we did indeed come home with grapes.

"I'm 2 - well almost!"
Rachel-isms: Move over Daddy..."Rachel,
Blue Puppy's Girl."

I went to Canada this weekend for Sharon
and Mike's wedding. I had a great time. The wedding was outside
and I got to play on this wooden walkway where I was jumping. I also
picked up lots of stones. But the real fun of the evening was the
dancing! I danced with Mommy, Daddy, and Pa and I even did the Hora
with Aunt Lauren! Later in the evening I dragged Mommy out onto the
dance floor and she held my hand as I twirled around. I also flirted a little bit
with the saxophone player.
Mommy is getting me a real potty this
week. I think I am ready to start training. When I was at my
cousin Lincoln's house I completely role played using his potty. I
even put paper in the pot when I was finished.
My birthday party is this weekend - you'll
get to hear all about it next week so be sure to tune in!

"Having a ball"
Funny wedding moment:
Saying "Rachel's
butt" loudly and grabbing my butt while Mike gave a speech to
the guests.
Latest letter development:
Saying "abcd" and whatever
item has letters on it. (ABCD Truck, etc.)

I went on a boat for the first time this
past week. It was a BIG boat with two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a
potty! I got to feed ducks crackers off the back - it was really fun.
I kept pointing to a huge boat docked behind the boat we were on and calling
it "Rachel's boat." Mommy told me to start saving my pennies.
Big thanks to Don and Carol for such a wonderful time.
Daddy took a day off work and we all went
to the gardens. I got to feed fish and ducks! We even saw four
beautiful swans.
I have been singing Laurie Berkner songs.
I know most of the word and hand motions to "Moon, Moon, Moon" including the
"click turn it on." A good bit of the Goldfish song and of course "We
are the Dinosaurs." We have to watch/listen to it everything we go
into the car and I shout out my song requests to Mix Master Mommy who gladly
scans for my desired song.
I have also been saying/singing the
alphabet. I even recognized it when baby Ian was wearing his "Hooked
on Michigan" shirt.

"Ahoy there matey..."

A Birthday Month update...I have been
practicing blowing so I can blow out my candles. I also have been
really vocal about my desire for cake. I must have gotten the Cake
gene from Mommy. I can also show how old I am going to be (most of the
time) by holding up my thumb and first finger.
I learned my last name in one afternoon
and now I know that Baby Ian, Mommy, Daddy, Wilson, and Pa all share the
same last name. Today when I was with Sammy's mom she asked me what
her last name was. I know it wasn't Pogany so I just kept quiet.

It's my birthday month! It's hard to
believe that in four more weeks I will be 2. Today we went to get
pictures taken of baby Ian for his birth announcements (that Mommy is way
behind on getting out) and I had my picture taken too. I found a beach
ball on the shelf and wouldn't let go. Well, that is except when I was
throwing it at the photo lady - which I did repeatedly. Needless to
say it took a while to get me to actually cooperate.
I have officially adopted Ian's "blue
puppy." He has become my one true love and goes EVERYWHERE with me.
I recognize that I am completely taking advantage of Ian's inability to
stake his claim on items and I am very ok with that.
