40 Months - January 2008

January 22 - January 28, 2008
(3 years 21 weeks)

I have been asking for things properly these days.  Yesterday at Trader Joes I said to the check out lady "May I have a balloon please?"  And not only did I get a balloon but I got my choice of colors - even those not at our register.  People really seem to respond to the "May I" part.  I think I'll keep that in mind for when I really want something special.

I did my first connect-the-dots puzzles yesterday.  Mommy found some on the computer of Dora and she printed them out.  Then I used a pink marker to connect the dots starting with the number one.  One of my connect the dots went up to 20.  It's a good thing that I can count/recognize numbers that high.  It was fun to see the picture reveal itself once all of the dots were connected.

Pretty much every day I am a princess but on a rare occasion I assume the role of a mermaid, a doctor, or a chef.  When I am a chef I like to make sushi (pronounced snu-she).  And I really have the hang of chop sticks - well at least the pretend ones that have Velcro on the ends.  But these sessions are short lived and then I find myself back to my full time role as a princess.

Part of my princess duties include being able to accessorize which I am an "expert" in doing.  At first it started with a bow in my hair but now I've moved on to crowns, earrings, necklaces, scarves, wings, etc. to accompany my wardrobe selection du jour.

I got to see Sammy twice this week which was great.  One night we went to a tapas restaurant for dinner and the next night we went to Go Bananas with our daddies.  Go Bananas was the best.  I rode the roller coaster with Sammy and we went on a lot of other rides too.  We both got a harmonica and I like to play it.  Ian thinks it's funny when I play it too.  He laughs hysterically.

"Hullabaloo"

January 1 - January 7, 2008
(3 years 18 weeks)

This week was a vacation week.  I watched the Rose Bowl parade with Mommy, Daddy and Ian.  I liked the floats a lot.  Mommy taught me how to wave like a princess.  I mastered it in no time!  Daddy was home most of the week which was nice.  I had some play dates with friends too.  I went to Ellie's house for a tea party and a few days later Daniel and Amelie came over and we decorated cupcakes!

Gymnastics started again and I am getting really good at the balance beam.  I also still like getting the stamps on my hands and feet when class is over.
