47 Months - August 2008

August 26 - September 1, 2008
(4 years)

It's Labor Day weekend and we went to our new house in Door County.  It's also my birthday weekend.  We did so many fun things.  We went to the Farm and fed animals.  We went to the lighthouse.  We went to Whitefish Dunes (on my actual birthday) and I got to play in the water and walk on the sand dunes.  The water is very shallow at the dunes and the sand is very soft on your feet.  We went to a grown up restaurant and I wore a very beautiful dress.  I ordered smoked salmon butterfly pasta and it was delicious.  Ian ate the bread and had chocolate milk.  He's only two and two kids don't eat like four girls.  Afterwards we got to see the sun set on the Bay and we had a Dairy Queen - yum!  It was a great birthday weekend!

My favorite thing about Door County is looking at the stars before bed.

Ma came to visit this week.  Ian and I got to spend some time alone with her when Mommy, Daddy and Pa went to Door County to get us a new house.  Ma came to help me celebrate my 4th birthday at my pool party.  It was a princess pool party.  I had princess cupcakes but I also had Spiderman for the boys since they don't really care for princesses.  The party was really fun and I love that we were at the pool again this year!

Mommy took Ma, Ian and I to the zoo.  It was great.  We saw a lot of animals and I got to ride on the train and the carousel.  I also got to get up close and personal with a polar bear and a gorilla.  There was just a tiny pane of glass between us.  I think Mr. Gorilla was getting tired of having his picture taken.  He has a very stern look.

We got to go out on Captain Don's boat.  I asked him if he was a pirate but he said no.  Captain Don is Caroline's grandpa and he is very nice.  I got to drive the boat once we were out on Lake Michigan!  I also got to walk from the back of the boat out onto the front where I sat for a while.  There was only a little ledge and a rope to get out there but I did just fine because I have little feet.

I went and saw The Princess and the Pea with Pa at the theater this week.  I enjoyed it very much and I got to meet one of the princesses after the show.  I also went with Mommy to see the Joffrey Ballet at Ravinia.  My friend Sara was there with her sister and Mommy too.  It was really fun to watch.  There were some silly dances like when the two men danced like a horse and some beautiful dances too.  I am going to be starting ballet soon and I can't wait!

Camp is finally over.  I am a little sad about this but now I get to do fun things with Mommy and Ian as well as have lots of play dates.  Speaking of play dates, my friend Sara came over and we had a princess tea party in the back yard.  Ian joined us too but he's not a princess.  We also made a Door County trip this weekend.  It was very exciting.  We got a yummy pie from Scaturos.  They have the best pies!

"Tea for Two or Three"

July 29 - August 4, 2008

I am into rhyming words.  I take the back of a word like "all" and then I add random consonants to it to make different words - "ball, small, fall , wall, tall, etc."  I have a lot of pre-reading skills in my basket of tricks.

I have been involved in a reading program at the library this summer.  In addition to the many books I am reading at home, I have read 23 library books.  When I go to the library I pick one story to retell to the librarian.  I then get to play a game a win a prize.  Mommy says that my comprehension is top notch and that I am a great story re-teller!
