July 20 - July 26, 2006
(4 weeks old)
Well it's hard to believe that an entire
month has gone by. I am already getting to be such a big boy. I
am losing that real new born look that I had only a few weeks ago and I am
putting on inches and pounds. Speaking of pounds I am up to 8 lbs. 9
oz. as of my 4 week marker. That means that I have put on a whole 3
lbs. and 1 oz. since my two day doctor visit. I am also ready to put
away the preemie sized clothes that I was wearing when I first came home.
However, I am not quite ready for my 0 to 3 month outfits yet. Still
hovering around the newborn size.
My baby acne is clearing up thankfully.
Just a little bit left on my cheeks. It's hardly noticeable except for
some faint bumps.
I am quite a sleepy monkey. I wake
up hungry so Mommy feeds me which knocks me out again. Must be
something in the milk.

"Tummy Time"
July 13 - July 19, 2006
(3 weeks old)
I am starting to be more alert during my
awake hours. I may even be tracking some things with my eyes.
However, the jury is still out on that one for a complete confirmation since
I am not always consistent.
I passed my hearing test on Tuesday with
flying colors. Hooray. The lovely ladies at the audiology lab
were fawning all over me. I guess I am staring to develop a smooth
"ladies man" presence. Watch out girls- baby Ian is in the house!
I unfortunately am suffering from a little
baby acne. It's not really bad according to Mommy. I don't quite
recognize my own face yet so it's of no real concern to me at this point.
I guess if I can have a touch of it now and avoid it completely during my
teen years I'll be really happy.

"Hanging with Wilson"
July 6 - July 12, 2006
(2 weeks old)
It has been a very busy week for me.
I went to the mall on Monday, the 4th of July parade on Tuesday morning, and
then a family BBQ Tuesday night. I basically slept through the first
two events and was awake for a short while during the BBQ. Ah, the
easy life of a newborn.
I had my two week wellness visit this
morning and I've gained a whole pound in 9 days! So I am now tipping
the scales at 6 lbs. 14 oz. I am healthy and growing nicely according
to my doctor. :-)
I am starting to be more alert during my
awake times. And I am starting to show a little interest while looking
around at my surroundings. Now if only I was awake more during the day
than at night...

"Mmmmmmaaa..."
June 29 - July 5, 2006
(1 week old)
On Thursday I officially became one week
old. Although you'd think that I am much older by my recent activities
which have led my parents to refer to me a Hercules and Houdini. I'll
address Hercules first. I think that I received this moniker from the
fact that I have an incredibly strong grasp as well as my ability to turn
myself around 180 degrees while positioned on my belly. I am also
lifting my head and turning it to the side. Houdini comes from the
fact that I have already become a swaddling escape artist. No swaddle
is too tight to keep me contained. It takes only a few of my Herculean
power kicks combined with a few wiggles to be free. Oh darn, I've just
shared my secret. So much for a traveling road show.
Some other exciting news is that the bili
blanket worked and I have beautiful (not orange) coloring once again - bye
bye jaundice. Also, I officially got my belly button on Friday, June
30. It is a very nice belly button by the way. Many thanks to
Mommy's OB for that!

June 22 - June 28, 2006
(0 week)
Hi everybody, I'm Ian. I made my
debut into the world on Thursday, June 22 and so far so good. The past
few days have been hectic as I have finally met all the voices that I have
been hearing for months - Mommy, Daddy, Rachel, and Wilson in addition to a
bunch of other family and friends.
I spend most of my days and nights
sleeping, eating, and looking around. I am extremely content.
Daddy was telling Mommy that maybe they got lucky again - whatever that
means.
I had my first doctor appointment today
and learned that my bilirubin levels were a bit high so I am spending the
next 24 hours under a bili blanket. I am like a little glow worm.
