Month 13 - August 2007

August 16- August 22, 2007
(1  Year 8 weeks old)

This week I made my first marks on paper with a crayon.  I have been pulling myself up on Rachel's easel for weeks but I usually take out the pencils and crayons and put them on the floor (or in my mouth).  This week I decided to try something new and I made some scribbles on some post it notes.  Rachel was very encouraging.  I tend to prefer using my left hand.  Mommy's hoping that changes - not that there is anything wrong with left handed people of course.

I saw some baby swans at the botanic gardens.  They were so cute.  We also saw about 30 ducks and I watched Rachel (and tried myself) to feed the ducks some goldfish crackers.  Ducks like goldfish.

August 9- August 15, 2007
(1  Year 7 weeks old)

I've been transformed into a cartoon.  Well, not really but this is what I would look like if I was.  I had my last week of camp this week.  I will miss going.  There was so much to do there.  I especially liked the stairs, tube, slide combo.  On the upside I'll still get to see many of my friends at playgroup.

Rachel has been terrorizing me for weeks now and I finally decided to fight back.  She tried to take a toy from me and I leaned forward and bit her.  I even left teeth marks.  Mommy told me "No Biting!"  Rachel cried.  I think that I got my point across.

Teeth Big time teething in progress.  Runny nose, drool, raised gums, loose stools.
Yep the teeth are coming.

August 2- August 8, 2007
(1  Year 6 weeks old)

I have a new best friend and climbing toy his name is Wilson.  I discovered that he is really fun to hug, kiss, and climb on (and over).  Wilson is a good sport too as he basically just lays there as I go about exploring and loving on him.  He knows that I am always good for a little snack.  A very win win relationship.

I have gotten a lot more verbal this week.  I am making a variety of sounds.  I am also saying something that sort of sounds like up.

Some other exciting news is that I waved to Mommy (a real wave) on Tuesday.  Rachel and Daddy saw me wave too.  Everyone was really excited.  I then demonstrated my wave at playgroup the next day as I was leaving the ladies.

July 26- August 1, 2007
(1 Year 5 week old)

I am being evicted.  Rachel has taken over the big bed that is in my room and has claimed it as her own.  I think I've known for a while that this was coming.  Especially with all the big girl bed talk I've been overhearing lately.  Anyway, I am now sleeping in her room and it's not too bad.  I think that her crib may be a little bigger and her room is slightly darker than my old one.  Her crib is also void of all the teeth marks that I chewed into mine.  The only thing I am not too sure about is the room color - whisper violet.  Don't get me wrong it's a nice color but I think I need my own color to officially make it my space.  Today we went to Ikea (I highly recommend the Swedish meatballs) and I got a new dresser for my new room.  Daddy has to assemble it.  You see when we got home from Ikea it was nap time so the room switching process was put on hold.  Rachel and I are napping at the same time in the afternoon so getting anything done was impossible.

Some exciting news on the milk front.  I am drinking it!  Well sort of.  It has to have some smoothie mixed in but the past two days I am really sucking it down.  Maybe there is some weight gain hope for me after all.  I think I'd like to be forward facing in the car.

Favorite saying:
"ooosh" which tends to be something that I want or that I am excited about seeing and therefore want.

Sorry I've been behind.  I am leading such an exciting social life that I forget to update as often as I should.  Catch up on the last 3 weeks.
