Month 18 - January 2008

January 17 - January 23, 2008
(1  Year 30 weeks old)

Sammy came over for lunch and we played Hullabaloo.  I like playing with the big kids.  Especially when they play Elefun or Hullabaloo.  Mommy was really excited when I stood on a purple pad after the voice in the box instructed me to do so.  I guess she didn't think that I could identify the color purple.  Obviously, I  showed her.

I get to participate in many of the play dates that Rachel hosts or attends.  This is great because when we go I get to play with a variety of toys.  I especially like train tables, sensory tables, and electronic toys that other people have.  In addition to my first love, vehicles of course and everybody has an assortment of those.  And when we host, I always benefit from special snacks or activities like frosting cookies or cupcakes and the like.  It's good to be the little brother.

"Playing like a Big Kid"

January 10 - January 16, 2008
(1  Year 29 weeks old)

I like hats.  I also like playing in Rachel's kitchen.  Tonight it was my turn to be chef, cooking up some tasty treats for my family.  I also like pretending to eat my delicacies.  When I do so, I make very audible pretend chewing sounds as I smack my tongue against the roof of my mouth.  This is then usually followed by me really trying to chomp on whatever pretend food that I might be holding.  I haven't quite given up on putting everything in my mouth whether it be toys at music class or the side of the shopping cart (yes cart - yuck says Mommy).  It's a wonder that stay as healthy as I do.

Rachel and I have decided to be really nice to Mommy and Daddy. On the weekends we let them sleep in for a while.  Rachel usually wakes up first and reads in her room until I wake up. Then she joins me and puts MOST of my toys in my crib.  On this particular weekend.  Mommy and Daddy slept in until 9:15 - almost a crime in my opinion.

"Chef Pogany, I hope that you're going to wash that thumb before cooking!"

January 3 - January 9, 2008
(1  Year 28 weeks old)

I had my 18 month wellness visit and you may just want to sit down for what I am about to tell you...I gained two whole pounds in less than a month!  I know it seems impossible to believe (Mommy made them weigh me twice) but it's true I am officially 22 lbs.!  Clearly those crackers on Christmas Eve helped rather than hindered.  This puts me at the 6th percentile which is still nothing to brag about but hey I finally made it on the charts!  Hooray!  I am also measuring 31 1/2 inches.  Growing I am.

We went to lunch with Pa before my appointment and they gave Rachel and I monkey masks.  I got a green one and Rachel got a pink one.  If Pa can learn how to take the photos off of his camera phone, I'll share the great photo he took of me as a green monkey!

"Something to Smile About"

December 27, 2007 - January 2, 2008
(1  Year 27 weeks old)

I rocked New Years over at Cassie and Shaun's house all the way until 10:30!  I could have kept going but Rachel was growing tired.  I guess that's to be expected now that she's reached the ripe old age of 3.  One of my favorite parts about New Years in addition to Cody the Dog, and Liz was the chocolate fondue with pound cake.  As you can see I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Grandma Gigi got Rachel and I an easel and a bunch of art supplies to go with it.  I painted my very first picture this week.  It's lovely and has joined the many works of Art by Rachel in our new art display room.  Mommy has miraculously transformed our "extra" room's boring faux brick white walls into an inspiring kaleidoscopic medley.  Gone are the days of extra storage and recycling as our easel now occupies its place.
