Month 22 - May 2008

May 22 - May 28, 2008
(1  Year 48 weeks old)

Back to reality and jackets.  It's nearly May and here we are being cold.  How can I show off my awesome tan in this weather?  Ok, Mommy slathered on SPF 45 so I am really basically as white now as when I left only maybe a slight shade darker.  Regardless, I got a taste of the heat and I am ready for summer!

We had a great holiday weekend.  We had a fun bbq at Merrily and Anson's house.  I like playing there because Anson plays cars with me.  We had dinner with Aubrey the next night.  We had a family BBQ on Sunday and then Dinner with Caroline on Monday.  I like when we're busy and when we play at other people's houses.  New toys are always fun.

We've been here five days already and I like the pool best of all.  I also enjoyed our trip to the Lowry Zoo.  It was great.  I was able to get up close and personal with the giraffes (we fed them crackers).  We saw stingrays but I didn't want to touch them but I did pet a snake.  We rode the carousel and had a great day.  I can't believe that we'll be going back home on the 19th.  I wish that I could stay two more weeks with Pa but I think he needs a vacation after vacationing with us.  He naps every afternoon when Rachel and I do.  I think we tire him out.

Ah, Florida.  80 degrees and just humid enough to give my hair some curl.  I wasn't too sure about the beach however.  Not at first anyway.  First I had to walk on sand to the water.  Sand gets into your crocs if you must know and I didn't care for that.  Finally, when you get to the water there are waves.  Big waves which are loud and a little scary.  Especially when the rush up the beach and try to grab you.  I made Mommy carry me when we walked along the beach at first.  As I got a little more comfortable I'd walk along the sand - but at a distance from the water.  I liked the day that the water was calm.  It was on this day that I enjoyed collecting shells.  At first I'd pick up one or two but toward the end of our hike I was putting handfuls of whatever I could grab into the bucket.  Amazingly, when Mommy picked through the shells she discovered that I found some unique and interesting keeper shells.

We walked into Clearwater Beach one day about 4 miles round trip and Rachel and I got to play on this really great covered playground.  I even met a little friend.  I don't know what his name was but he was really tan.

Every day is pretty much the same.  We get up and eat.  Go to the beach.  Eat lunch.  Take a nap.  Play in the pool.  Eat dinner.  Go to bed.  Basically, it's fantastic.

May 1 - May 7, 2008
(1  Year 45 weeks old)

We got a touch of spring and all of the neighborhood children flock to the yards.  One area in particular is a favorite stomping ground and it just happens to be two doors down - Coopers.  Cooper has so many fun toys to ride and push that his driveway is the place to be when the sun is out.  Especially, since our backyard is still a mess from the construction.  Daddy hasn't mowed it either and Wilson is a little scared to go out there in the dark.  But I digress.

We are getting excited for Florida.  I've been running errands with Mommy all week making sure that we're ready.  Rachel and I got some fun new warm weather duds.  I've flown before so I'll be able to help Rachel (this will be her first time).

"Head out on the Highway"

April 24 - April 30, 2008
(1  Year 44 weeks old)

I said my first sentence on Wednesday, April 30.  I stood at the top of the stairs with Mommy and said "Me go down."  I count this as my first sentence since it wasn't something that I repeated from TV like "yes, we can" which I respond when asked "can we build it."

I had a play date with my friend Ben.  I like going to his house.  He has a train table.  Ben and I like to say "Mine" to each other and "No."  We really enjoy each other's company - we just need boundaries.
