10 Months - July 2005

July 26 - August 1, 2005
(47 Weeks)

On Tuesday, July 19, I sat for the first time by myself!  When I woke up from my nap I called out to Mommy.  When she came into the room she saw me sitting.  You would have thought she'd just won the lottery with the way she was carrying on!  She ran out of the room grabbed the camera and took this picture.  Since then I have sat up for Daddy and again for Mommy.  I prefer a little privacy when sitting up and have only performed the feat when no one is looking.

On Saturday, July 23 (and quite by accident) Daddy realized that I can kiss.  At first I would only kiss my stuffed toys like Le Singe, Lady, Blah blah cat, Bark Bark Dog, etc. but then on Monday afternoon I kissed Mommy and on Monday night I kissed Daddy!  Again, they were all excited.

I got to meet my new cousin Lincoln.  He is so cute and tiny.  Check him out.

I get to go to my first Cubs game this week!  Mommy has been trying to get me to say "Go Cubbies!" but I have not cooperated - maybe I am just waiting for the game.

"Sitting Pretty."

New Foods this Week:  Turkey lunch meat, Kiwi, Chicken and Stars.

July 19 - July 25, 2005
(46 Weeks)

It's a good thing that Daddy lowered the mattress, as you can see, I am starting to pull myself up and stand.  Anyone out there interesting in placing a futures wager on whether I walk or crawl first?  Wilson (the resident canine bookie) feels that the odds are in favor of me walking first.

A lot of other exciting happenings occurred this week.  The biggest event being that I am now drinking using a straw.  This is monumental for any/all of the following reasons - I have been refusing the bottle for months, I am not overly excited about my sippy cups, and darn it I just plain get thirsty sometimes when Mommy is not around!  The next biggest event is that I said Dada - a real Dada - at Daddy on Saturday morning when he came to get me from the crib.  I think Daddy was very pleased.

Mommy recently realized that I have quite an amazing memory.  I got a little rash the other day, which wound up being nothing, but Mommy dragged me to the doctor anyway so they could check it out.  Long story short, I was fine in the reception area and I was fine in the examination room but as soon as the doctor/nurse practitioner walked in...I lost it - and loudly I might add.  Mommy tries to reassure me that they are only trying to help but I am convinced that they are out to cause pain and trauma.  I don't like going to the doctor one bit!

"I saw her standing there..."

New Foods this Week:  Cantaloupe, Cheddar Cheese, Ground Turkey, Earth's Best Spaghetti with Cheese (a stage 3 food!).

July 12 - July 18, 2005
(45 Weeks)

I have started waving.  I first waved when Uncle Jeffrey & Lauren were in town but Mommy wasn't sure if it was really a wave or not - obviously she now knows it was!

I went swimming in the city this weekend and again at Stone's local pool on Monday!  I love the pool, especially Stone's since it is a zero depth pool and I can sit and play with toys in the water.  Wilson went swimming this weekend too and I was worried that I had seen the last of him.  You see he decided that he was going to bypass the stick that Daddy threw and swim all the way to the horizon.  Everybody on the beach was nervous too - eventually he DID turn around and came back - a very naughty chien!

I pulled myself up to my knees in my crib the other day.  Mommy thinks that is it now time to lower the mattress.

"My toys are my toys and your toys are my toys!"

New Foods this Week:  Chicken & Wild Rice, Vegetables with Turkey and Barley, Squash with Corn and Chicken, Pasta.

July 5 - July 11, 2005
(44 Weeks)

On Thursday I turned 10 months old but I really don't feel much different than I did when I was only 9 months old.  I did get to experience some new things such as my first concert - Justin Roberts and my first 4th of July.

A bunch of my friends and their families joined us for the concert on Saturday.  It was so fun that I fell asleep before it was over.  On Sunday the 3rd we celebrated the 4th with a family BBQ as my Uncle Jeffrey and soon-to-be Aunt, Lauren were in town.  We spent the actual 4th of July with Aron, Heidi, and Emily - it is a long standing family tradition.  Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate and the fireworks were cancelled. We did get to see a few fireworks through the trees that we think a local golf course puts on.  I wasn't scared at all and I can't wait for the make-up fireworks later this summer.

As you can see from the new foods list below I am starting to try all sorts of finger foods.  I am not feeding myself yet but I do like to give food to Mommy and Wilson.  Sometimes instead of releasing the food I just tease them and I don't let go.  I don't think Wilson finds it as funny as I do.

New Foods this Week:  Pear YoBaby Yogurt, Pasta Primavera, Watermelon, String Cheese, and Chicken.

June 28 - July 4, 2005
(43 Weeks)

Ok, I am not really driving in this picture.  I am actually sitting in the parking lot of a McDonalds on my way up to Door County in Wisconsin.  I am officially an interstate traveler.  I've been to 4 Midwest states - Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and now Wisconsin.  I even had my first taste of Wisconsin cheese - string cheese from Renards to be exact.

I am an accomplished roller now and can't be left alone on the furniture.  I cover every square inch of floor when I am rolling around in any given room.  When I am not rolling I really like to find and pick up dog hair, one strand at a time, off the carpet.  I give them to Mommy when I find them but I am not nearly as effective as the vacuum cleaner.

Well I said my first official full word - and it was a bit of a surprise to everyone.  I said kitty.  The funny part is that we don't have a kitty and I have never seen a kitty until this past weekend.  But Mommy said kitty a few times and then I said kitty then she said kitty and I said kitty again.  Mary, our Door County friend is the only other witness and she heard me say kitty on a separate occasion later that day.  I've only said in the presence of the kitty and have not said it since.  I say gie - which is short for doggie - sometimes when I see Wilson or some of his toys but kitty was definitely kitty.

New Food this Week:  Peach YoBaby Yogurt and real Strawberries (right off the farm)!
