14 Months - November 2005

November 29 - December 5, 2005
(1 year, 13 weeks)

Here I am on Thanksgiving, being what Mommy and Daddy call a "Standy Stander".  I get so excited when I stand alone.  I took this one step further this weekend as I learned to stand without pulling up on something.  I just bend and stand right up.  However, I get so excited that I eventually topple into a laughing heap.

I have my 15 month appointment this week.  Maybe I will weigh enough to have Daddy turn my car seat around so that I can be forward facing.  I think that there will also be shots at this appointment - I am not excited about that at all.

I have been coloring a lot the past few days.  I am getting quite proficient at scribbling.  And I am getting less tempted to eat the crayons.

I have more teeth coming in and they have been causing me a little discomfort.  They may also have attributed to my slightly runny nose but who knows Mommy likes to blame everything on teething.  What will she think of once all my teeth are in?

November 22 - November 28, 2005
(1 year, 12 weeks)

I love walking with my walker toy.  I especially like that I can chase Wilson while I walk.  Daddy has been working on walking with me by only holding one of my hands - he's convinced I will be going solo in no time!

Today I was pretending to wash my animals with a wash cloth.  I washed their faces, paws, and bellies.  Sometimes I can even wipe my own hands and face - for real.

I am excited about this Thanksgiving - I will get to eat the same foods as everyone else.  I wonder what I will like?

Lately everyone keeps telling Mommy that I am a mini-her.  Do we really look that much alike?

"Ah, Elmo..."

November 15 - November 21, 2005
(1 year, 11 weeks)

I am pretty fearless when it comes to climbing.  I have learned to crawl all the way down the stairs.  I also learned how to get off of Mommy and Daddy's bed (it's really high) - I turn around, grab the blanket, and repel down the side.  Pretty ingenious eh?

I got my second (and final) flu shot for this year yesterday and I cried for only about 2 seconds.  I didn't even cry when the nurse came into the room like I had been doing in the past.

I like giving big hugs to Mommy and my stuffed animals.  I also really like dancing to The Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Yes, this picture did run twice.

November 8 - November 14, 2005
(1 year, 10 weeks)

I have a few exciting things to report this week.  First, language-related - I have learned a new baby sign, Quack, for ducks.  I did it for the first time while I was at the Botanic Gardens with Mommy and Great Grandma Gigi.  Ducks really like Cheerios by the way.  I also said "Happy" for the first time yesterday while Mommy was feeding me lunch.

Second, physical-related - I learned how to get down off of the big chair in my room by turning around and going down backwards.  I then learned to apply this technique to the stairs but I have only been practicing on the bottom 3 stairs under Mommy's close supervision!

Lastly, I have started giving a lot of "loving" to Mommy and Daddy.  On Sunday morning I crawled into Mommy's lap and cuddled, really cuddled, for the first time.  Since then I have wanted to cuddle more every day.

I really like things that are soft and when I discover such items I really like snuggling with them and rubbing them on my face.  Mommy hasn't put my ladybug costume away yet and every time I crawl past it I pause and nuzzle the sleeve or leg.

"Ready for Winter"

November 1 - November 7, 2005
(1 year, 9 weeks)

Wilson and I were Lady Bugs for Halloween. We had a Halloween party at our house - Sammy, Aidan, and Madison and their parents came over.  It was fun.  Mommy took me trick or treating.  We didn't go to many houses only to the neighbors that we know.  I liked playing in the candy bowl at our house.

I have been really fascinated with pumpkins this month.  I shriek and point and wave whenever I see them.  I dressed up as a pumpkin earlier in the week.

I am starting to stand alone for longer periods of time.  Today I think it was the longest yet.  I am pretty fearless when it comes to climbing and exploring although I am cautious when I am on beds or couches and get close to the edge.
