Month 25 - August 2008

August 21 - August 27, 2008
(2 years 8 weeks old)

Rachel had a birthday party at the pool.  I like going to the pool but I don't like to go to far into the water.  What I do like doing is putting my truck on the cascading water scoops.  My truck just shoots off the end.  It's very cool.

Ma came to visit and we have become quite the pals.  We were able to spend a lot of time together when Mommy and Daddy went to Door County with Pa.

I've figured out how to be a big boy at the hair cut place.  First, request Thomas the Train video.  Second, sit in a really cool car.  Third, get Mommy to give you a lollipop ("pop" as I like to call them).  This three in combination with a red balloon = no more tears!  Hooray!

Some of you who are familiar with Rachel's past fascination with Blue Puppy might be a little surprised to learn that he is now MINE!  As many of you might recall, Blue Puppy was a gift to ME when I was baby however Ms. Rachel took him for herself.  Now that's she's nearly four I guess she doesn't have the time to care for Blue Puppy and now he and I are tight like we should have been all along.  A nap or bed time sleep cannot occur with my blue fuzzy blanket and Blue Puppy.

This Thursday was my last day of camp.  It was pretty sad.  I liked camp quite a bit.  Good thing I get to go to preschool in another month.  I made a good friend at camp and his name is Jake.  We liked to do guy things together.  On the last day of camp we gave the Mommies a book with pictures from all the weeks of camp.  To Mommy's surprise many of the pictures are of me topless outside!  She wasn't so concerned about the fact that I was half naked but more so that she assumed that I'd have a shirt on the entire time and she never put sun screen on my belly.  As you can see below this obviously wasn't a problem as my skin is still the color of cheese (as Yusuf would so eloquently say - he told Mommy she was that white before).  I am guessing he's referring to maybe a goat or feta as I am definitely not orange like cheddar.

I have overnight mastered walking up and down the stairs.  For a long while I preferred Mommy just carrying me and she often relented because it was considerably faster than the 15 minutes it would take me to do it alone.  Now the only time I pause on the stairs is when I am even with the hallway mirror so that I can say hello to myself and smile.

It was crazy hat day at camp and we made crowns - not too crazy - but I sure was crazy about my hat and insisted on wearing it a good part of the day.  Some other things that I am crazy about include my trains.  Toby is my favorite this week.  Before that I would flip back and forth between James and Thomas.  I know all their names.  I especially LOVE playing with my track.  Funny how there aren't any pictures of me with my track on the site.  It is the only thing that I want to play with morning, noon, and night.  Choo Choos are my life.  In a few weeks Daddy and Pa are going to take me to see Thomas at the Illinois train museum.  If I'm lucky I might even get to meet "Hat" too.

Mommy brought out the potty and I have been sitting on it.  Nothing to report yet but I don't mind sitting on it.  I know when I'm going to make my business "Poot" as I like to say so I am starting to show signs that I am ready.  Maybe I'll beat Rachel on the potty training time table.  My competitive nature is rearing with the upcoming Olympics on the horizon.

July 24 - July 30, 2008
(2 years 4 weeks old)

We've been seeing a lot of Pa recently and it's been great.  It's always fun when he comes to visit us.

I've finally reached that stage where I have a love for hearing stories read to me.  That is as long as they are stories about Thomas, Jack Truck and Dump Truck Dan, or animals.  I'll actually sit through four or five books at a time.  Mommy and I (and sometimes Rachel) all curl up on my big boy bed and have story time.  Yes, I have a big boy bed but I only like to read on it or jump on it.  I am SO not ready to sleep on it.  Not even for naps.  I'm still happy with my crib for now.  Mommy's happy with that arrangement too since I can't get out to wake her up in the morning.  Darn these short legs!

I am liking the shower more and more these days.  I even got a little silly with Daddy when washing my hair the other night.  I am even learning to wash myself a little.  Speaking of hygiene, I LOVE to brush my teeth.  Any time Mommy is in the bathroom I want to brush my teeth and I insist on using the "bear" tooth paste (fluoride free).  The dentist will be so proud in another year when I get to go see him.
